Olaus Magnus's Carta Marina is the first derailed map of the Nordic countries to include place-name labels. The map also includes a number of fantastical sea creatures.

These wondrous sea creatures are identified in the Carta Marina map key. More detailed descriptions of these sea monsters can be found in Olaus Magnus' 'A Description of the Northern Peoples'. Unfortunately this book doesn't describe the terrible noises that each of these sea monsters make. I've therefore had to use my own imagination to provide the calls for each of the Carta Marina sea monsters.
